Outreach and Education Programming

The Prince Albert Historical Society prepares programming for use outside our museums. 

Programs and presentations are offered to other groups as the Society's resources allow.  Please contact the Society's Office at 306.764.2992 if you are interested in one of our outreach programs.

Our outreach programming includes:

Education Programming for Teachers

Prince Albert Historical Society members and staff have researched topics that may be useful to teachers and instructors.  Some resources have been developed to align with the K-12 curriculum.  A selection of resources is listed below.  If a topic is not listed, contact the Society's office to check if there are any related resources available.

Outreach Programming

  • Care Home Photo Sharing: Member volunteers visit a care home with a selection of photos for discussion with the residents of the care home.
  • Please contact the Prince Albert Historical Society Office to discuss other programming.

School tours are available throughout the year for all our museums.  School group admission fees apply.  Tours can be customized to a specific topic on request.

Youth Explorers Groups

Youth Explorers MembershipJoin our our PAHS Junior Explorerers (ages 7-12 years) or PAHS Explorers (age 13 years)  groups this year
- Junior Explorers meet every 3rd Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
- Explorers meet every 3rd Saturday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

  • Explore ... Our community, our history, and our people
  • Serve ... As a volunteer for outreach and educational events
  • Have Fun ... History is fun!

Membership is $20 per year.  Complete the registration form online.

Mini-Explorers Poster

Join the Prince Albert Historical Museum Mini-Explorers group! Drop in sessions  are geared for preschoolers  and children up to 7 years old, accompanied by an adult. Each session encourages:

  • Hands-on discovery
  • Exploration
  • Early learning

Cost: Free admission
Time: 10:00 to 12:00
Dates: 3rd Friday of each month
For fall 2025: October 17th, November 21st and December 19th

Summer Camps 2025

July Day Camp: July 14 to 18

July 2025 Day Camp Poster Explore the life of a Voyageur through outdoor challenges, crafts, demonstrations, games, food and friendship!

Calling all youth 8-12 years of age! Come explore the who, what, when, why and how of voyageur life. It was a life full of adventure, challenges, bannock, bison and cheerful camaraderie.

Dates: Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18
Hours: 9:00 - 12:00

The price is right = $50/camper

August Day Camp: August 5 to 8

August 2025 Day Camp Poster Discover a day in the life of local settler children through games, crafts, storytelling, hands on activities, and exploring.

Step back in time to discover settler life in 1920.  Milk a cow, gather eggs,  create traditional crafts, play running games and sitting games, and so many other activities!  We will take a road trip to the Vintage Power Machines Museum where we will feel the power of a steam powered machine and explore the old general store.  

Dates: Tuesday, August 5th to Friday, August 8th
Hours: 9:00 - 12:00 

The price is a good deal for only $50/camper

This camp will be at the Evolution of Education Museum. Most activities will be outside or in the old Claytonville school.

Mini-Explorers Half-Day Camp: July 23 OR August 13

Summer 2025 Mini-Explorers Half-Day Camp Poster Camps for 5, 6 and 7 year old children who are ready to try a day camp.  We will be doing the best activities from the big kid’s camps!  

Each camper will attend with their adult - mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, auntie, etc.  Each child needs an adult, but each adult can bring more than one child.  

Dates: Wednesday, July 23 OR Wednesday, August 13
Hours: 9:30 - 11:30 

Each camp will have different activities.  

This camp fee is only $10/camper/camp and adults are free.

Let's Go Exploring: July 3rd, July 31st, and August 14th

Let's Go Exploring Poster Take a road trip back in time!

If you are 12 years or older and want to get out and explore our local historical sites on a day trip, then this camp is for you!  Each day camp will run from 9 am to 4 pm. We will visit the following sites on three different days:
 
  • Road Trip #1: July 3rd (Batoche & St. Louis)
  • Road Trip #2: July 31st (Fort Carlton & Duck Lake)
  • Road Trip #3: August 14th (Waskesiu Heritage Museum)

Cost: Members $40, Non-Members $50
